yumla knows:martin eyerer
Monday, May 24th, 2010
hark back to april 2008 and you’ll probably remember martin eyerer’s first appearance here in hong kong (at yumla, naturally).
after an astonishingly short two year absence mr. eyerer is back in town with a fat bagful of his distinctive brand of techno.
saturday 5th june, mark the date… this is a rare opportunity to catch one of the greatest techno producer / DJs of our generation.
even if you are only half familiar with what goes on here – you will already be well familiar with many of his tracks, courtesy the sets of our resident DJs! and speaking of residents; sharvax and taku hirayama are on support duties.

yashima & buddha’s birthday weekend
Tuesday, May 18th, 2010Saturday night this week, we are proud to be hosting two our of friends from Japan:
imai fukutaro & m@i, both of whom are visiting hong kong (and residents at yumla) for the 12 months, their night yashima offers a distinctly Japanese take on house & techno which – if you can remember our recent Asian Force parties – amounts to something pretty special! they take control from 10PM.
also, due to the public holiday, the long weekend starts early on thursday night with basil tam gearing up for one of his epic 6 hour tech-house sets in the form of one man orgy.
to make sure the weekend is a proper mess – up until midnight – the bar prices are $40 standard drinks and $50 pints. so get rolling! also worth noting that yumla*alt also keeps on trucking with cheap booze and alternative music; taku hirayama & company destroy wednesday night with the ‘music of black origin’ showcase that is macroy, decks start spinning 9PM…. $30 each or $300 for 12 chilli vodka shots. n.a.s.t.y.
In between Saturday and Thursday, residents wendy wenn & kerri monk’s hectic schedules collide for a rare opportunity to hit the decks together again. Kerri was off in Thailand recently so Friday we welcome her return!
wednesday & thursday are free entry, friday & saturday $100 on the door after 11PM, which includes one drink. all nights end around 4-5AM. be sure to join our facebook page (link on the right) to stay in touch. we’ve got some very special international guets to be announced in june, details will hit our facebook members first.
the return of vincent azé
Wednesday, May 5th, 2010he’s back! after playing some of the most memorable sets at Yumla during his time in Hong Kong, Vincent Azé returned to his native France some years ago…
… but …
… tomorrow night!!!
Thursday 6th May, the original French technocrat hits our decks (and your ears) once again. Easily supported by our very own Wendy Wenn and Yann, make the effort to swing by, say hi, shout ‘Allez!!!’ for old times sake and perhaps think about taking the day off on Friday.
Free entry, music starts 8PM, $40 drinks, $50 pints.
asian force hong kong
Friday, April 23rd, 2010Remember that bloody awesome techno party where Yumla’s very own Frankie Lam & Dan F DJ’d at in Fukuoka last year?
Well brace yourselves … Fukuoka is coming to Yumla on Friday May 7th AND Saturday May 8th for two nights of techno & house, delivered direct to your brain cells by DJs Montea, Atsushi, Ko*Hayashi & T.B. alongside residents Taku Hirayama and Frankie Lam.

yumla knows presents:fab friday
Wednesday, February 10th, 2010
Well this month’s schedule is still late, no denying that… but at least we can confirm the imminent arrival of multiboy along with cohorts drafus & the prawn for an epic thrash-up this coming weekend: fab friday falls on friday 12th february, flipping-off from 10pm sharp.
Entry is a paltry $100 which includes one of our famously over-proof standard drinks upon entrance … and if we hear one complaint about door charges this weekend, someone’s going to get hosed down with hot cheap brandy & set ablaze in the park while the sound of The Kills and/or Plastikman and/or Barry Manilow plays on in the background. And all the while people inside will be dancing, and not caring for your fiery plight. Warned.
Dance like no one’s looking! Dance like you’re on fire. Dance like the God of Insanity hijacked your body and took some limbs out for a joy-ride.
See ya Friday!
yumla knows:technasia
Friday, September 25th, 2009
Technasia is already a household name here in Asia, hailing from Hong Kong and with a massive following in Europe & Japan; the former production duo is now being pushed on as a solo live, production and DJ project by Charles Siegling.
Yumla is proud to be hosting an exclusive DJ set from Technasia on Saturday 10th October 2009.
The labels & artists surrounding all that is Technasia form the backbone of contemporary techno; Jon Tejada, Joris Voorn, Dosem, Renato Cohen, Christian Smith, Steve Rachmad… the list of collaborations and connections is – quite frankly – endless. Also be sure to check out the Technasia label, Sino Records.

yumla knows:frederik borgesius
Thursday, September 10th, 2009holland… ah! fine cheeses, rampant weed, classy football and bicycles… and pako & frederik.
yumla is very proud & happy to welcome back errant dutchman frederik borgesius, for what will be his second gig with us in hong kong.
as this is a long set – 7 hours – expect to hear everything from super-fresh new techno & house promos all the way back to ripping rave classics. really something quite special to look forward to this month, and we cannot wait.
michelle is working on some super-cheap drink deals to get the night started, so please check back here for further info. support DJs also to be confirmed… fred has asked to play the entire night however as this is also fred’s birthday party so… well… best laid plans and all that jazz.
new monthly: floor
Sunday, September 6th, 2009Launching next weekend is FLOOR – a brand new collaborative monthly residency between leading Hong Kong producers Amil Khan & Dan F – which kicks off 9PM Saturday night and will build onwards, upwards & outwards until late.
The main emphasis for the night is music for dancing… pure and simple: Music to get lost in, anonymous peaks & swells, emotive highs and deep rolling lows all bound together by one underlying pulse. Complete and utter pompous crap?
Coming from anyone else perhaps, however Amil (founder of HK’s first proper techno label, Sino Records and part of the original Technasia line-up) and Dan (founder of HK’s second proper record label, Disuye Records and creator of Yumla) share a collective international presence within electronic dance music extending well over two decades.
So there you have it! Enough blabbering. 8 hours of the finest house & techno every month, presented on the best tuned sound-system in the City and hosted by two leading proponents of the genre. And if you don’t give a rats arse about music then you can always look forward to the HK$30 vodka + Red Bull promotion between 9-11PM!
Either way, wear comfortable shoes and get down early. Click the flyer image for full details. Join the FaceBook event here.
