The Hong Kong Dog Rescue charity are to be evicted from their Pok Fu Lam kennel property come February 2010.
Please do not comment about corporate greed blah blah blah as that is not the issue here: The current property owners (Jones LaSalle) are simply exercising their right to make money.
Instead, please comment if you have any bright ideas otherwise head over to the HKDR web-site, contact the staff and see if you can help. Three months to shift a charity & volunteer run operation is really not nearly enough time; and the list of necessary requirements for a new site are quite daunting.
Despite being one of the largest animal welfare charities in Hong Kong, this kind of property issue is a massive problem for HKDR and the hundreds of animals they care for. Funds are just not available for a move like this.
With Xmas around the corner – if you are considering a pet – simply adopting one of the existing dogs from HKDR to free up space before February would be of huge assistance to them. Pass the info on – many thanks for reading.

News update:
The land near Tung Chung that HKDR had been planning to move to has turned out not to be suitable for use as a kennel.
All of the focus and efforts over the past few months have been on building a new Homing Centre there, and now HKDR are left with nowhere to go. Swire Properties have confirmed that 30th April is the final deadline for HKDR to leave the current Pokfulam Kennels site, which means that as from the end of this month HKDR – and that means all of the dogs – will be homeless.
If you are thinking about adopting a dog, please come to HKDR kennels and have a look at those that are waiting there. If you can foster until HKDR sort a new site out, please offer a temporary home to one of their dogs. If you can donate money to help HKDR pay for private boarding, or sponsor a particular dog’s boarding costs, please let them know.
Please help. Thanks.
